1.Keyword Research:

In my definitive guide to SEO in 2014, there is the following statement: “Although much has changed over the past year when it comes to SEO, the principles of keyword research have remained relatively stable.” To some extent is true in today’s condition. The fundamentals used previously for performing keyword research have not changed. We still find the phrases and words that are useful to our business and products.

There are many ways to used it effectively like you can use many keyword research tools available on the web such as Google’s keyword planner, Ubersuggest, SEMrush and Searchmetrics’ keyword analysis tool. They are used to find popular keywords and phrases. You can also find keywords which are already generating traffic and sales using websites analytics. Find you competitor’s top ranking pages to determine which keywords they are targeting. These all strategies are very effective at finding relevant keywords and you can achieve a high ranking. Google does not look at search queries solely in terms of keywords, those queries are used to analyze user internet.  When you think about keyword research, mostly focus on finding relevant topics which are related to your theme and structure of your content.

2.On-page SEO:

On-page SEO is one of the techniques used to increase the rank of the web page. The question is that how we should be structuring our content in order to rank and it is provided in Searchmetric’s 2015 ranking factor report. From that report, I have some points to be noted to incorporate it into your own content.

Word count- Google always gives preference for longer, more comprehensive content. The average words count given in the report for top-ranking content is in the range of 1,140-1,285 words. While creating your content focus on providing comprehensive coverage of your topic rather than writing shorter content.

Proof and relevant terms- It considers the main topic of your content. It shows that you are comprehensively covering the topic. Proof terms are basically used for the particular topic; for example, search keyword can mostly use when writing about SEO. On the other hand, relevant terms are words often used alongside primary keywords in order to provide holistic coverage of the topic.

Keywords within content- Keywords should be properly used in your content; especially in the title, header, introduction paragraph and a conclusion paragraph. Increase in the total number of keywords used in the body of the text result in top ranking pages.

Internal links- As part of offsite optimization, internal links must be properly in place. Each page should, ideally, has a link from another page or from the homepage. The internal link structure should be flawless, as well, to ensure that visitors will quickly and conveniently find the right pages that are relevant to their search.

Use of header and meta tags- 99% of top ten pages in search result had a meta-description, and 80% used an h1 tag. You should ensure your H1 tags and descriptions are unique and accurately describe the main topic of your page.

3. Site-wide SEO:

On-page SEO won’t work until you have proper site-wide elements in place. This section will cover important site-wide elements you should have in place in order to rank well in organic search results.

Mobile –friendly site- Earlier year mobile-friendliness has become a significant ranking factor. It is very important to use responsive design.

Quick loading times- Searchmetrics found that the top-ranking pages loaded in an average of 1.16 seconds for desktop results and 1.10 seconds for mobile. Google’s PageSpeed Insights tool can help you to figure out how quickly your site is loading.

Proper content structure- For rankings and user experience you should structure your content in a logical way. You can also provide an optimal structure for your content by using interactive elements such as menus and buttons. Use unordered lists to breaks up content into manageable chunks. Also, use internal links to guide users and search engines through relevant content on your site.

4.Mobile SEO:

You got information about how to optimize your site for mobile. It’s no longer enough to optimize for desktop and ignore mobile users. There are many people using mobile, according to google most of the searches happen on mobile rather than on desktop devices. Apart from having a mobile-friendly, responsive design, what other factors are important for ranking in mobile search? Explained as follow:

File size and site speed- Not surprisingly, these are both important factors for ranking in mobile search. If you want to load web pages quickly on mobile devices then file size should be minimum.

Mobile-friendly format and structure- Your content should be structured in such a way that it will occupy the space of the mobile screen, for that responsive design comes into the picture. The content displays in a structured manner.

Keywords in content- Proof and relevant terms are also important for your mobile content, although their usage is slightly lower than in their desktop counterparts.

Word count- To display your page as top ranked page it is important to put average word count in your content. The average word count for top-ranking mobile pages in 2015 was 868, compared with just 687 the year before.

Ads- You should remember that high ranking mobile pages tend to have significantly fewer ads than their desktop counterparts.

5.Link Building:

This is the technique basically used in off-page SEO technique. The bulk of the work is in link building. This is not only beneficial to SEO but it can also get direct referrals and further increase targeted web traffic. This normally requires content creation in order to improve the quality of each link.  The content where the inbound links will come from must also be unique and high in quality. It also found that for many years, links formed the absolute basis for search engine ranking, for SEO’s and for the analysis of ranking factors. For a search engine, it is a question of ranking the best and most relevant content.

As the links are very important factor in ranking, we should able to identify the content type that is most likely to accumulate a high number of links. Research-backed content, Opinion forming journalism, long form content over, 1,000 words and list posts are a component for link building.

Guest blogging is one of the effective strategies, not only for building inbound links but also for reaching a new, targeted audience. Social media is the best platform to promote your content. This is the idea that likes, shares and retweets on social media count as links and it improve your content likes and popularity.

Getting noticed on social media is useless in terms of SEO? The answer is no. There is most definitely an indirect relationship between social likes and share and high rankings. Excellent conned obviously get appreciated by the larger audience. There are many other tactics for link building, such as broken link building, submission-based link building, and even setting up a scholarship then conducting outreach to various colleges to promote your scholarship.

6.Content marketing:

content marketing

Basically, content marketing is the art of communicating with your customers and prospects without selling. It is non-interruption marketing. Instead of pitching your products or services, you are delivering information that makes your buyer more intelligent. The essence of this content strategy is the belief that if we, as businesses, deliver consistent, ongoing valuable information to buyers, they ultimately reward us with their business and loyalty.

Tactics that used to be effective at achieving ranking such as writing short content with a very high keyword density no longer work. Publishing long-term, comprehensive content that meets the needs of users is key for high ranking. This type of content will often naturally rank well in search results. If you are using proper distribution strategy for your content, then it is more likely to gain traction; through social shares, links, and links through increased search rankings. It is also important to put your content in front of a wider audience.

Hope you got an idea about how to boost your page in top-ranking using these above strategies. You can also use this for content creation process; provided with the best possible user experience for increasing ranking for your content.
